One of the attractions that you can explore on such a long ride or walk in spring is the Pfaueninsel, or “island of the peacocks.” This island is located on the river Havel, in the southwest of Berlin, on the border between Brandenburg and Potsdam. This island is recognized as a world heritage site and is a popular destination for hikers, travelers and tourists. The island has a long tradition that comes from the seventeenth century. Here you will find beautiful architecture set along the network of roads that go from one side to the other in the forest on the island.
There are, of course, many animal species living there. If you like bird watching, this is a great place for you to see some of the many species that stop there for shelter on their way to warmer lands.
